ATTRIBUTES
Academics
I have been on the Superior Honor Roll for 4 years, and I take honors or AP classes every year. I am the treasurer of the Hayden chapter of the National Honor Society. I have been deemed a member of the National Hispanic Recognition Program for my high PSAT score. I am currently taking two honors classes and two college credit classes in my senior year of high school. I am ranked 23rd out of 129 students at my school. I currently have a composite score of 29 on my ACT and plan to take it again. I have a cumulative GPA of 4.11 for my high school career, and I am striving to raise it even higher by the end of my senior year.
Athletics
I participate in basketball, soccer, track, and cross country. I have earned varsity letters in all four sports in all four of my high school years. I have made the all-city and all-league cross country teams the past three years. I have also made the all-state cross country team. I am currently the cross country team captain. I was a second team all-city pick for basketball, as well as being on the all- defensive basketball team. I was a part of the 2012 soccer state championship team. I have been on the all city track team as well. I was an honorable mention for all-state basketball. I was named to the Burlington High School Tournament all-tournament team.
Community Service
I volunteer around 50 hours of community service a year. I assist a lady with cerebral palsy once a week. I help her write letters, perform deeds around the house, and take care of her dog. I have been doing this for about 6 years, and I love seeing her smile when I come. I also volunteer for various other nonprofit organizations. At the Topeka Performing Arts Center, I help children make graham cracker houses around Christmas time. I also help out at my church's pancake feeds by serving food and cleaning tables. For the past 4 years I have volunteered at an auction to support a non-profit local news station.
