ATTRIBUTES

I have been on high honors or honors my entire high school career. I also received the awards of: Nomination to the Connecticut State Student Advisory Council on Education, the Mount Holyoke College Book Award, recognition of success in Accelerated Geometry and Accelerated Earth Science in 9th grade; Accelerated Algebra II in 10th grade; and Pre-Calculus, Accelerated Chemistry, and Trigonometry in 11th grade. I am a member of the math team and was the highest scorer in 11th grade. I was awarded the highest score, 5, on the CAPT exam in 10th grade in all subjects. I am also enrolled in 2 AP classes this year: AP Calculus AB and AP English Llterature; and was in AP English Language in 11th grade.
Arts
I am a member of the concert band, playing flute; marching band, playing piccolo; and jazz band, playing piano. I was inducted to the Tri-M Music Honor Society in 10th grade, which is based on a dedication to music and high grades. Last year, I won first and third in a photography contest put on by the local Land Trust Foundations from 4 towns around mine. Over the summer, I attended an architecture career discovery program, where I was given the honor of designing one of the most spacially complex pavillions ever seen by the professor of the summer program, and I could have acceptably presented the design as a fourth year architecture student describing it as a modern interpretation of a Mies Van der Rohe building.
Technology
I have taken only two technology education classes in my high school career, but I am very proficient with technology. I am currently enrolled in a Computer Manufacturing and Design class, which uses the program Mastercam. I learned the software very quickly and I am currently 3 classes ahead of my class. In my sophomore year, I took an Introduction to Computer Aided Drafting and Design class, utilising the program Solidworks. I learned this software very quickly as well, creating designs tor parts and buildings alike. Over the summer, I participated in an architecture career discovery program at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, which uses the program Rhinoceros. I also excelled at the use of that program, creating designs and renderings of a pavillion.
