ATTRIBUTES
Academics
I am currently involved in my schools Honors Diploma, AP, National Honor Society, National Spanish Honors Society and National Science Honors Society. I have maintained a 4.0 GPA unweighted and a 4.71 GPA weighted throughout my past two years in high school. I also have received 5's on the AP Human Geography, AP Environmental Science, AP Biology, and AP Government and Politics exams. I am currently enrolled in five AP classes this year and one honors. I plan to take both the ACT and SAT exams this year. I am predicted to receive a 32-35 on my ACT.
Athletics
I have swam on my local swim team the Parkview Penguins for ten years. I have also been a varsity swimmer for my school for both my freshman and sophomore years in high school and I plan on continuing this on both my junior and senior years. I am a likely candidate to become a captain of the team my senior year. I currently swim the 100, 200, and 500 freestyle. Last year I was able to qualify for the A-league competition in both the 500 and 200 freestyle individually and the 4-100 freestyle relay and the 200 medley relay. I also play water polo for fun with my friends regularly.
Work
I got my first job this year for Front Range Recreation as a lifeguard and a swim instructor. I absolutely loved working for them, because it combined two of my greatest passions: swimming and working with children. I was able to gain experience working with all age groups with the swim lessons and I believe that life guarding helped to strengthened my leadership capabilities and my sense of responsibility. One of my favorite moments this summer included working with a six month old baby and her parents so that she was able to safely float independently in the water. It was amazing to share the joy and amazement of that moment with them and to realize that I was a crucial aspect to that process.
