ATTRIBUTES
Government
I have been involved in Student Government for all of my High School career. I served as the Class Chaplain for my class during my ninth grade year, organizing and running devotions. My sophomore and junior years I was one of the two Representatives for my class, my main duty being the attendance of Student Council meetings. I have recently been elected Student Body president as well, and will serve in that role in my upcoming senior year. In addition to Student Government, I am also a Delegate Member in the Model United Nations group at my school. Prior to last year, the group consisted of only four or five member, but my friends and I decided to join, and since then the group has expanded.
Faith
I have been a Christian most of my life and actively attend church every week. In addition I also regularly attend my youth group, where I play bass on the worship team. I have also been involved in various service and missions opportunities. Through my church, I went on several service projects, serving at food banks, helping elderly people with work around their houses and a cleaning handicapped person's yard. I also have served at a soup kitchen once a month for a semester and at a nursing home once a month for a semester. In addition to small scale service, i have been on four missions trips, one to Jamaica, one local evangelism trip, two to an Apache Reservation in Arizona. In Arizona and Jamaica, we by constructed and painted houses and ran a children's ministry.
Academics
I have been involved in rigorous academics throughout High School. I have taken honors classes since my freshmen year and am taking AP this upcoming year. I am also taking a college level history class at a local college. In addition to these classes I taken, I've also been awarded membership to the National Honor Society. In the past I have also won academic awards, most notably for creative writing. For five years in a row, my work had qualified for the ASCI Creative Writing contest. In that contest I received three"Excellent's" at the regional level and one "Superior" at the regional level, which went to state to earn an "Excellent".
