Academics
I work very hard for my academics. I have made straight A's since 5th grade and before that it was just 2 B's. All of my classes have been honors classes, for the exception of algebra 1, physical education, two business classes, and two foreign language classes. I have taken 3 AP courses and will take 3 more. I have taken AP United States History, AP English III, and AP Calculus. I am going to take AP English IV, AP Statistics, and AP Psychology. I am ranked 1st in my class of 209 students. I have also been to the Edwin Troy Carpenter Math Competition and been recommended to attend The Governor's School of North Carolina. Academics are very important to me, so what is better than earning a scholarship based on it.
Athletics
Athletics has always been an area in which I hardly have participated in, but what I have participated in I have given all my effort, time, heart. I grew up watching everybody play soccer yet I never did since I didn't make the team in middle school. So come high school, I tried out and made the JV team. I knew that I didn't want to sit on the bench the whole season, so I worked really hard. As the season progressed, I earned the position of center midfielder and got to playing full time in every game. I felt like an asset to the team, so I kept learning and working harder. At the end of the season, I was asked to play with varsity when they played in the playoffs and actually played. At the end of the season, I earn Most Improved Player. The next year I got to play varsity as well.
Community Service
I have tried my hardest to help out my community. I have helped build my house along with other house with Habitat For Humanity. I also went with the school Spanish Club to help kids in a Christmas party. I helped sell items for an ASTRA fundraiser at my schools cancer awareness football game. I have helped stack cans and other packed items at the local soup kitchen. I have also helped raise money for and participated in the March of Dimes walk 3 years. I have also helped decorate a Christmas tree in the downtown of Lenoir with FBLA club. Being involved wasn't easy at first since I didn't have a ride to the places, but I know that the little things I have done I have done with great love and effort.
