Academics
I have been on honor roll since sixth grade. My cumulative GPA in middle school was 4.0, the highest that is achievable at my middle school. In my freshman year, I got straight A's and my weighted GPA was 4.57. This year, I am taking one AP class and four honors classes, including two science classes, and have all A's. I help many of my classmates if they don't understand a concept; over the summer I made a series of online map quizzes to help both myself and my fellow classmates study for a map quiz, which we took during the first week of school this year. I intend to take four AP classes as a junior and six as a senior. I will have taken the highest level math class my school offers in my junior year, so I intend on signing up for a higher level math class at the local community college.
Arts
I have been playing piano since I was seven years old, having been in the same group lesson at Wagner's School of Music for all seven years. I began playing clarinet when I was in fifth grade and joined my middle school band in sixth grade. After a semester in the beginning band, I got my schedule rearranged so I could be in the advanced band, as I was at a higher skill level than many of the beginners. I was second chair clarinetist in seventh grade and first chair in eighth grade. I joined marching band at the beginning of my freshman year, and once marching season was over I served as first chair clarinetist for both festival and concert band. I was asked to audition for the district honor band because they were lacking clarinetists, but I chose not to due to scheduling conflicts.
Athletics
Though I was not a very athletic child, at the age of 11 I began swimming on a summer league with Heartland Swim Association. At the end of the summer, I switched over to College Area Swim Team. I was on their second lowest level for a year before moving up to their first competitive age group level and staying there for a year. I quit club swim at the beginning of marching band season, though I resumed with the same club once high school swim season started. During my freshman year, I was on the novice water polo team and was the main sprinter for the majority of the season. I now play on the JV team as the main bench sprinter and center forward defender. I was on the varsity swim team as a freshman, though I attended JV League Championships, in which I received two fifth place medals.
