ATTRIBUTES
Academics
I am a senior in high school and have maintained a 3.4 or higher throughout my high school career. I have taken three Advanced Placement courses and two Honors classes. I also participated in three years of Mandarin Chinese where I learned about the Chinese culture along with the diverse language of that country. By the time I graduate high school, I will have taken three years of Engineering, including Engineering Design and Development and Architecture. A major part of my high school experience has been my involvement in the music program. I will have played my clarinet in band for all four years, including two years in the Wind Ensemble which is an audition only group. During my junior year, I had the honor of traveling to Indianapolis to perform in a National Festival with my band.
Athletics
Another major part of high school for me has been golf. I have been a player on the golf team for the past three years and plan to play during my senior year. I have made Varsity the past two years and plan to play for that team again in my senior year. The past two years I have been selected to be on the District All Star Team, a team compiled of the best players in my school district. It has been an honor to be selected. As a team, we have won the District Golf Tournament for the past three years and in my three years of playing, have only lost one match. As an individual, I have had the honor of playing in the District Golf Tournament and traveling to Regionals with my team. Golf has taught me about patience, strength, mental focus, drive and the power of "Mind over Matter".
Work
During the past year of high school, I have been able to balance school work with work. I have been employed at Baskin Robbins since August of 2011 in efforts to save money for college. My job has taught me a lot about working with people and how to deal with difficult situations and problem solve. I have learned how to talk to customers in a calm and polite manner, even if they are frustrated. I have also learned how to stay calm, even when there is a line of customers out the door. Work has also taught me how to work with many different personalities and how to get along with co-workers. Even more so, my job has given me a chance to learn how important it is to save money and put it toward something important and worth while, such as my education.
