Academics
I am enrolled in all Pre-AP/AP classes. I am able to maintain a 4.167 GPA while still being dedicated to other responsibilities, such as being Class President, an active member of both Math Honor Society and National English Honor Society, Girl Scouts, and church. I plan to continue taking AP/Honors courses throughout my high school career. Even with all of the activities I am involved in, I was still able to earn enough points as a freshman to earn my letterman jacket in track and band. I also plan to earn my Gold Award in my sophomore year of high school and join other honor societies such as the Spanish Honor Society and Science Honor Society. I also plan on being inducted into National Honor Society.
Arts
Band is a very important activity in my life. Ever since I was a freshman, I was in Wind Ensemble, which is the top band at my high school. I play tuba during concert season and in the jazz band and the sousaphone in the marching band. I am also involved in my school's full orchestra. I participate in Region Solo and Ensemble Competitions, and I have gone to the State competition with my Ensemble. As a freshman, I made first chair in the Freshman Band at the Region Band competition. I spend a lot of my time in band-related activities because I am very dedicated to playing my instrument and perfecting my musical ability. I have a private lesson every week, and I try to practice as much as possible. I am very committed to band and because of my commitment, I lettered as a freshman.
Athletics
I am on the Varsity Track and Field team at my high school. When I was a freshman, I placed fourth at the Varsity District meet in discus and seventh in shot put. This meet was my first varsity meet because I had been competing at the junior varsity level for all the other meets throughout my ninth grade year. I was very nervous, but my coaches had confidence in me, so they encouraged me to go. Considering the fact that many of the other participants were juniors and seniors, I was pleasantly surprised with the outcome. I am very glad my coaches pushed me; otherwise, I would not be where I am today. Now I am much more confident in my field skills, and I lettered as a freshman. I am looking forward to competing at the varsity level for the rest of my high school career.
