Through out high school I have managed to get all A's every single semester; even with taking honors classes every year and AP classes. I have maintained a 4.5 GPA and will graduate with more credits than I need to for the state of Nevada. Getting all A's is not as easy as it looks. Countless hours have been spent studying and meeting with teachers to go over course material. If I can maintain all A's throughout my senior year I will graduate as valedictorian. I have been student of the month for English, Chemistry, and Introduction to Business. Through it all I have been nominated as Vice President of National Honors Society. I honestly could not have done all of this if it weren't for my amazing teachers and parents!
Community Service
Helping out my community is something that is dear to my heart. Going to school online has given me the opportunity to do a lot of community service. I joined my high school's service learning/community service club in 9th grade. We volunteer at the Ronald McDonald House every month to serve dinner to the families there. We have done numerous cancer runs and walks. Each Earth Day we go out around the valley and clean up trash. Most recently we have volunteered at the local food banks to help children in low-income homes and in poverty. I have also had the great privilege of volunteering at my local hospital. I have volunteered over 350 hours there. Through volunteering at the hospital I have come in contact with so many amazing patients and nurses which has inspired me to become a nurse.
Government
You may think that an online high school cannot have a student council. Well that is where you are wrong! Nevada Virtual Academy started up their first student council last year (my junior year). I ran for president against a senior and actually won as president elect (since I was not a senior). This past year we held our first prom with a pretty good turn out despite the fact that we didn't know our fellow classmates very well. This coming year I will be the President of student council. I hope to start a mentoring program for new students or students that need help with their classes or school life. For me it is such an honor to be President of Student Council because I can really be the voice of the students. I love my school so much so this is truly a blessing.
