ATTRIBUTES
Academics
I've received the President's Award of Excellence every year except one. That year, I got Achievement. I was the only one at my school to receive the DAR Citizenship award. I received it at the end of my 8th grade year. In my junior year of high school, I made the highest score in my school on the Georgia High School Writing Test for graduation. I've earned the highest grade in each class in middle school, and most in high school. I'Ve been invited to the University of Alabama Special Reception twice, People to People trips, leadership summits in Washington DC, the National Youth Leadership Forum of Medicine, and to be a member of The National Society of High School Scholars. I've taken and aced 3 AP classes and will take 2 or 3 this year with honors. I am president of HOSA.
Arts
Art is a major part of my life. Though I've never been able to enter anything in shows or contests, I paint and draw all of the time. My cousin talked me into creating a Facebook Page for my art. I’ve had people from other states “like” the pictures and the page, comment, post messages on the page, and compliment my work. Many people have my paintings hanging on their walls. People actually claim to be my “fans”! I know my art isn’t as great as that of Michelangelo or Leonardo da Vinci, but I’m still proud of it. I use to keep it to myself, but I've started to show it. Now, my friends could be introduce me to someone, and they already know me because of my art. I may never be the best, but the appreciation my art gets is a great achievement. Community Service
As the president of National Junior Beta Club in middle school, I completed the required 20 hours per year. I actually completed over 100 hours each year. I slacked after Junior Beta Club ended, but I've started back this past year. I help at my school with decorating for spirit weeks, school events, and holidays. The service that has impacted me the most is definitely when I helped at Relay for Life in April of 2012. The team I was in raised nearly a thousand dollars for Relay for Life. After dark, everyone turne off their lights for the candle lighting for patients, survivors, and non survivors. The whole park was lit up by the end. I realized why we were there. We wanted to offer support and to make a difference together. Since then, I've helped with cervical cancer awaerness with HOSA.
