Community Service
Every year my church holds a summer day camp since I was in 8. At the summer day camp I worked with pre k and kindergartners. I helped them make crafts, play games, etc helping them learn more about Jesus and God. I have volunteered for religious ED center. I worked with children ages 3-5 for about 5 years. I helped the children learn about Jesus and God. I also volunteered at convalescent homes for about 3 years. I enjoy being so involved with my church. It has shown me how much volunteering helps the community. When I was in 7th grade I went with my church to visit women and children at a shelter for battered women and children. Working and helping the women and children at this shelter opened my eyes to how important it is to help the community and offer your service to the community.
Faith
My faith is very important to me. I helped my church in a youth group. I help children 3-5 learn more about their faith in a way they can understand. My church holds different youth groups from ages 3-16. I preferred to work with the younger youth groups because they have so much to learn and will listen. This year I am going to work in cornerstone which is a group that helps with the confirmation classes and sets up retreats for them. Working for cornerstone will help me also learn more about my faith. I also am participating in Campus Ministry at my school. Campus ministry also helps plan retreats and helps with the community. I am looking forward to help plan retreats and help different youth groups and show them so much more about their faith.
Athletics
For the past 4 years I have been playing volleyball for my high school and a club team. On top of playing I also help younger kids learn more about the sport. At my old school I helped coaching the track team. I plan on helping with my old school in coaching their volleyball team. Every year my school holds a 5k that is sponsored by St. Mary’s Medical Center. All the proceeds provide support for the high school’s academic and athletic programs. I am participating in it again this year. I enjoy teaching and helping children play a sport and encouraging them about it.
