Academics
I am going to be a junior at River Hill High School with a 3.93 unweighted cumulative GPA. My freshman year I had a 4.0 unweighted GPA. Currently I am taking Algebra 2 G/T in summer school in order to get ahead in math, so I can enter my junior year in PreCalculus G/T. During my Sophomore I took Independent Research G/T, where I researched Survival Techniques and Warning Signs of School Shootings. I presented my research to over one hundred students and staff members throughout my county. I plan on attending an Ivy League College for undergraduate and then earning a Doctorate of Psychology. Lastly, I genuinely enjoy school and always strive to do better than my best. I plan to help as many people as possible as a psychologist and with this award I can successfully achieve my goal.
Other Achievements
I was a girl scout for five years and took on numerous community service projects like planting flowers in front of a church and giving roses to elderly women in retirement homes on Mother's day. I scored Advanced in Math and/or Reading on the Maryland State Assessment for three years in a row. I have played the piano for four years and have played a little bit of guitar. I participated in two plays, but I had minor roles. During sixth grade my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer and died of it during the end of my freshman year. Even though I traveled everyday to the hospital to see my mom and stayed until almost midnight; I maintained a 4.0 GPA my freshman year.
Athletics
I have played for the Soccer Association of Columbia on a travel soccer team for three years and have played soccer for almost eight years. I play defense and my team (SAC Chaos) has won many tournaments and were fall season of 2011 champions in our Wags level 4 league. I participated in ballet for two years and tap for one year. Since I was two years old i have loved to dance. I have continued dancing my High School's Dance 2 class. I plan on continuing my dance career for the rest of High School and hope to continue in College. I also participated in Cheerleading for a year. By doing these sports, I have learned the importance of team work, how to be a leader and how to be calm in times of adversity.
