Academics
As primarily a student, I am extremely focused on completing my required classes in addition to challenging myself to take extra Advanced Placement classes. I have so far taken three AP classes -Language Arts, Biology and United States History. I received my academic letter sophomore year for obtaining a 3.5 or higher GPA for three consecutive semesters. I also have been awarded 8 academic pins for maintaining an 3.8 or above GPA. I have been on academic honor roll since elementary school and have also been on the Principals List of Scholars my entire high school career. As well I am a member of the National Society of High School Scholars. As well I am a member of the National Society of High School Scholars, and the California Scholastic Federation.
Athletics
My first sport was gymnastics and baton I received many honors including Twirler of the Year. Next came soccer in which I was star defensive player. The next sport I tried was karate I made it to obtaining a green belt before other sports called my name. As a dancer for 6 years I was in numerous performances and learned how to move with an entire group but stand out on my own as well. The next sport I tried was swimming. My first swim season in high school I made it to the Valley Championship and have been with it since sophomore year. Also during my first swim season I was awarded the Team Leader award. After swimming I was recruited to play water polo on my school’s first ever Girls Water Polo team.
Community Service
I am greatly involved with my community. I am in Key Club, associated with the Kiwanis-Family, and through this club I have completed over 200 hours of community service since sophomore year. I am historian of Key Club and this position requires me to be at all Key Club events. I have been a part of two Porterville Relay for Life events (fundraising for my third event in progress), an event coordinator at Porterville Celebrates Reading, volunteered at Cooling Centers, served food at a program that feeds homeless people called Helping Hands, life guarded at Kiwanis Swim Day, walked in a Walk Against Violence, and collected cans at a city-wide food drive. On my own I have volunteered to renovate a room at a women’s shelter, and at animal shelters.
