Academics
I am valedictorian of my high school class with an unweighted 4.0 GPA. I am enrolled in five AP classes for the upcoming year in English, physics, government, macroeconomics, and Spanish, as well as calculus 2 and 3 at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. I scored 2290 on the SAT, 5 on AP tests in English, Calculus AB, and world history, and 4 on the AP United States history exam. I have always taken the most advanced classes offered and perform my best in all I do. In addition, I am taking the Rosetta Stone course in Greek. I have taken courses at Hanover College, Indiana State University, and Purdue University in subjects ranging from psychology to debate over the summer, as I dislike the uninterrupted length of the break from school.
Community Service
I am a volunteer at the Terre Haute Humane Society, where I help as often as possible year-round. During the summer, I am a Teen Volunteer at Union Hospital, a program I have participated in for four years. I am also one of the founding members of the Full Plate Campaign, a student-run initiative combating hunger in the community; we are organizing a musical benefit for the local emergency food service, the Light House Mission. As part of National Honor Society, I work with other students and organizations on fundraisers, awareness campaigns, activities, and other community service ventures. I have also been a volunteer counselor for Camp Invention, a summer program introducing children to science and technology.
Other Achievements
I am very active in school organizations of various kinds. My academic extracurricular activities include Knowledge Masters, a biannual test over school subjects, current events, and trivia that is compared with others’ scores nationwide, Academic Super Bowl, in which small groups of students focus on fine arts, science, math, and literature from a given era and geographic area for a competition with other schools, and Spell Bowl. I have also participated in multiple clubs, such as Interact, a Rotary Club-affiliated community service group. Others are writing club, Sierra Student Coalition for environmental awareness and aid, and the Amnesty International club at my school.
