ATTRIBUTES
Government
I take full responsibility of being informed as well as being politically active. To become politically active, I pursued to start politics by joining the Junior States of America, or JSA. Debating about controversial issues with fellow students, I was able to express my opinions and this year, our chapter was elected Chapter of the Year. It has been both a momentous and important part of my freshmen year. Another activity I am involved is KACE, or Korean American Civic Empowerment – KACE was created to involve all Korean Americans in political activity and their own communities. From getting thousands of voter registrations or working on small-group projects, each task teaches Korean Americans about their communities and allows them to exert their political power.
Technology
A major part of my school experience is biomedical research. For the past year, I have been working at my high school’s laboratory. This summer, I will be conducting an independent research project. With an avid love for biology and medical research, this is a great experience; I hope to improve my research techniques as well as providing a possible solution to cancer. Another interest in my life is technology, a major part of my generation. Technology has been a large part of my life, being involved in my health to my own entertainment. From creating my own Tumblr to programming, I am absorbed in all the latest technology- I consume my technological knowledge through new websites, and electronics. Currently, I am teaching myself the basics of popular programming language, C++.
Other Achievements
I am passionate about activism. Amnesty International has been one of my greatest interests. I have worked tirelessly for the cause of equality and freedom – by assisting in getting thousands of signatures on petitions and persuading peers to support a cause, I truly was able to make a difference in the world. Oxfam has been another club I have been involved in. Despite the difficulties of planning a large event as well starting without any supplies, we worked toward having a Hunger Banquet. UNICEF has been another club I have been active in. I contributed countless hours toward fundraising for children in need throughout the world. Some of our projects were Haiti365, Believe in Zero, the Tap Project and the Eliminate Project.
