Academics
I will be staring my Sophomore year this fall at Hudsonville High School. I have a 4.0 GPA and plan to increase this later in high school with taking AP classes to get me in hopes to become one of the top 10 high school graduates in 2015. It is a lot of work to keep my GPA solid at 4.0 this year but I know the work of studying for hours on end will pay off in the future.
In Jr. High I was part on my schools Science Olympiad Team for two years. I medaled both years at Regionals. My first year I placed 3rd in Experimental Design and was proud to be a part of the first team in our schools history to advance to the State competition. The second year I placed 1st in Experimental Design and 5th in Shock Value at Regionals.
Athletics
I was the only student in 6th grade to attend Cross Country practice even though students can not participate in meets in Michigan until 7th grade. It paid off, in track the following two years I was All-Conference for the 3200M and runner-up in the 1600M. I also was on the 4X1600 team that broke a record that was held by Ritzenhien’s team when he was in 8th grade.
In my Freshman year of high school I was All-Conference and All-Region in Cross Country and qualified for State.
Freshman year track also went very well as I broke the Freshman record for the 3200M (3 times) with my best time of 11:18. I also broke the 1600M Freshman record at a time of 5:15. I also qualified for the State in the 3200M. I am looking forward to working hard and to see what I can achieve in the future.
Other Achievements
I love writing and I have written many rough drafts of various stories. Below is one of two poems I wrote that are published in the American Library of Poetry.
A Single Moment
I breathe
I listen
I wonder what will happen next.
My heart pounds through my chest like,
a heart attack that is just erupting.
I step up to the starting line,
nerves exploding within me.
I think about the race ahead
and what is awaiting me.
The effort that I know will be worth it in the end.
The gun goes off,
I see it before I hear it
Its like a bomb exploding on my ears.
I take of as fast as I can.
The nerves evaporating like they never existed;
Not looking back only ahead.
I have trained for this moment and
now it is finally here.
I'm Ready.
