Academics
My academics stand out very well in my school. I am ranked currently 9th in class however it does fluctuate greatly. I also have at least a 3.75 GPA out of 4.0. The last semester I had all A's in all honors classes. I also took a community college class and received a 99 in this class. An academic group I am in is National Honor Society. I was elected to vice president of this group. My lowest grade last semester was a 95 in honors chemistry which is what I want to major in in college. I feel as though I stand out, however, I do not get the recognition I deserve. Through the American Legion I was given the opportunity to go to Keystone Boy's State which is a governmental camp. This is based on academics and leadership.
Community Service
For community service I am involved in the American Red Cross through my school. I ran for president but fell short by a few votes. However, i volunteered through that at blood drives and "feed-a-neighbor" events. At these we would give food to deserving citizens with low income. I usually helped take the food out to their cars or sometimes walk them home. It is a very rewarding experience seeing the joy in these people's eyes. I also organized a church event through the church's praise band of which I was a part of at the time. It was called the "Coffeehouse for Hunger Relief." I organized, planned, and oversaw the event. I raised over $2000 dollars. I donated most of it to our church's pantry and donated the rest to World Vision. The goal exceeded.
Work
I started my work early working at a tree farm with the family. I worked there basically since I could lift trees until the Spring of 2011. I got a job at a local diner called the "Boulevard Drive-In and Family Restaurant." I started there as a dishwasher. They moved me up to a grill cook/short order/cashier. It is much like a fast-food section of the restaurant but with actual cooking. There is also a dining room where customers can sit down first and have their order taken by a waitress. I was moved to the cook position for that section. As anyone can tell, I was moved through very quickly. I can basically work everywhere in the restaurant and I feel I am very qualified to work at other jobs as well.
