Academics
Throughout middle school, I won both the Academic Achievement Award and the President’s Education Award two years in a row. I was a member of the National Junior Honor Society. Now, I am a freshman with all honor classes at Alton High School. I got into Upward Bound and Minority Excellence Programs that recognize minorities with outstanding grades. I am very proud to be one of the few who got accepted. Even though I already speak English and Arabic, I am taking French as a third language. I am an active member of The French Club and plan to take French for four years. Recently, I won first place in the Alton Science Fair. I am planning on taking all honor classes and to maintain straight A’s all four years. I am very hard working and do my best at all times. My current GPA is 4.25.
Green
I am very interested in helping the earth. For this purpose, I joined the Biology Club where we focus on nature and how we can help it. One way is by collecting unwanted or broken electronics and batteries. We send them to a special recycling company that in turn makes sure they are reused properly. During my daily life, I have encouraged my family, friends, and neighbors to recycle even if it takes a little extra time. I explained to them the benefits of recycling and helping the earth. I take any chance to educate people about preserving the earth. In my Honors Biology Class I chose to make a power point presentation about the importance of rainforests. I talked about endangered species, why people should care about rainforests and how we can help them.
Faith
I am an intelligent, well accomplished, American-Muslim-Lebanese girl. Originally, I come from a country with eighteen different religious sects. I grew up to respect other people’s religions so people can respect mine. As a Muslim, I try to keep religion as part of my daily life. I pray, fast during Ramadan, and try to educate myself about Islam. Even though I cannot read and write Arabic, I do not let it restrict me from learning about my religion. I read the Quran translated into English. I know I still have a long way to finish my education, but with my faith in God, I hope I can fulfill my dream of becoming a doctor and helping people from both of my heritages. In my opinion, no matter what an individual’s faith is, religion is a guide to good behavior and high morals.
