Arts
Music has always been very important to me. I have been committed to choir for seven years and have been taking voice lessons for eight years. Throughout my high school music career I have made region 9 All- Region honor choir my freshman and junior years and i plan on auditioning my senior year as well. I have sung in more concerts than I can count and am always looking for more ways to participate. Choir has taught me how to work in a group and when it is okay to rise up as a leader. Choir has become a second family and is very important to me. I have dedicated a large part of my life to music and I intend to continue singing on the collegiate level.
Community Service
I believe that community service is extremely important. I have had so many blessings in my live and I want to give back to the community. In the past I volunteered at ManeGait, which is a therapeutic riding center for disabled children. In addition to ManeGait, I have volunteered at Church Under the Bridge in Waco, Texas. Church Under the Bridge is a church service for people who do not have a place to live. My youth group and I made lunch and served it at multiple services throughout the years. My church has provided me many opportunities to help the community including Habitat for Humanity, 30 Hour Famine, and much more. I love to volunteer. I enjoy meeting new people and doing my part to better lives.
Green
My environmental awareness came a few years ago after watching the documentary Tapped. The realization hit me that I need to do my part to be green. My family always recycles and in addition I have completely given up plastic water-bottles. I have also participated in campus clean-ups sponsored my my high school's NHS. My church has also given me the opportunity to be apart of a field clean up for Habitat for Humanity. This included clean lots that were to later be used as house sites. Leaving a small carbon foot print is important to me because i know that I am not the only one on this planet. I plan to continue my green lifestyle and hopefully continue to change for the better.
