Discus Award Winner
12th Grade, FL
I am an upcoming senior in high school with a current 4.39 GPA. I have always been an honor-roll student, never earning less than a "B" on a report card. I began getting high school credit in my last year of middle school. I have taken part in 4 Advanced Placement classes, one of which I passed, another I was one point away from passing, and I am currently awaiting the other two scores. My highest ACT score is a 24 but I will be retaking the test in the near future. All throughout my elementary and middle school years I was a part of the gifted program for high level thinkers and since then I have challenged myself as much as possible, never taking anything below an honors class. I am currently ranked 13th in my class of over 300 students.
Performing arts contributes to a major part of my life. I have participated in all of my school choirs, ensembles, and glee clubs since the fourth grade, making that a total of seven years and counting. I had the honor of singing in the Disney Candlelight ceremony and with the University of Florida chorus almost three years ago. I have been in groups that have gone to state and I had a solo throughout my performing career. I have also been a part of my local All-County choir for the last three years. This upcoming year I am the president of all three choral groups at my school. I will also be participating in my local honors choir which takes place at the University of North Florida.
I have always enjoyed contributing to the community. My most recent contributions include volunteering at my local VFW and Elks posts. At the VFW I have made pizzas every other Thursday night for the local veterans, helped decorate the post for event, and participated in their annual auction. At the Elks, I have helped with their annual fish-fry, their occasional breakfast for dinner nights, and their Easter egg hunt for disabled children. I also participated in Relay for Life last May for people with illnesses.
