Green
I have always been interested in being eco-friendly. It all started when I was in eighth grade. My teacher enforced a strict trash policy. We would pick up trash every day after lunch and compost. She was the one that really inspired me to care more about the Earth. During my junior year I joined the EarthWise club. It is a club that makes the school more green. We put compost bins in the cafeteria and replaced plastic utensils with silverware. I became the Public Relations officer for the club. I sent out e-mails and organized bake sales and pizza sales to fundraise money. I really love this club because instead of watching, I'm doing something. I'm reducing our carbon footprint. This is a time in my life that I will look back at and say, "I really made a difference."
Arts
I don't just sing or dance or paint, I do all three; I act. I sing, dance, and paint my emotions on my face while acting. I have always loved to act. When I was in elementary school, I was never part of the ensemble. I was always on stage, acting. I was a fairy godmother's helper in Cinderella, a talking flower in Alice in Wonderland, a narrator in Beauty and the Beast, etc. In high school, I pursued acting as well. When I was a freshman, I took part in an amazing musical called Urinetown. It was a post-apocalyptic musical about a rich man fining poor people when they pee. I was also in Once On This Island and A Midsummer Night's Dream. I love entertaining the audience, making them laugh, cry, and so much more. I hope to minor in theater while in college.
Academics
I have not always gotten the best grades, but I can say that I tried my best in every subject. I may not be a genius in Pre-Calculus, but now that I know that I know what I am and am not cut out for. I have always maintained above a 3.0 grade point average, and usually it stays above a 3.5. I am a good note taker and I always pay attention in class. In Algebra 1 my teacher called me a math hero because I learned to balance my homework and the drama productions while still maintaining above a 3.5 grade point average. I started taking honors classes instead of regular classes, and I found it more my speed. In some cases, the honors classes were less work than the regular classes because the teacher knew the honors classes already had everything down. I am proud to say I am an honors student.
