ATTRIBUTES
Faith
I am an active member of the Sunnylane Family Church Youth Group. Each Sunday I teach the 2 year old class for Wee church. Last year I co-founded the Westmoore High School branch of Students for Christ. Each week we met and had a Bible study with our peers. I led many of those devotionals. At my church I am a substitute teacher for the children's Sunday School department and usually at least once a month teach Sunday School. I prefer teachering the little ones (pre-K and first grade). They are so much fun. I also work with the elderly in our church as an encourager. I spend a few minutes each week listening to them talk of their problems and just giving hugs.
Academics
For all my years in school I have maintained a 4.0 GPA. I currently have a 4.67 GPA and am ranked 7th in a class of 450. My unweighted GPA is 4.0 and I am ranked 1st in my class. I have taken pre-AP classes in English, history, science and math and have taken AP English, AP US history, AP Chemistry, AP World History. This school year I will take AP Biology, AP Government, and pre-AP physics. I have also taken Anatomy and Physiology, 3 years of Spanish, computer science, pre calculus and creative writing. This year I will add animal science to my schedule. I am involved in many extracurricular activities in my high school including scholars tic team, Spanish club and academic team. With the academic team I have been captain for 2 years.
Other Achievements
I made a decision before I started school that I wanted to be a veterinarian. I have read so many books and newspapers with information and I did much research to learn about the process. For the last 2 years I have been shadowing vets in my hometown to see the real world of vet medicine. As a high school student I received a summer internship with the Oklahoma Department of Agriculture working with the state vet. I was able to draw blood from sheep and horses by myself. I was a part of the inaugural class of the Oklahoma Pork Council Leadership Class and learned through a hands on process everything about hogs from birth to putting it on the dinner table. I currently shadow a large animal vet and just last week dehorned a cow by myself.
