Academics
After a bad freshman year in on-line school I have been able to obtain a 3.5 GPA by getting straight A's throughout my sophomore and junior years. I take the hardest classes I can such as dual-credit English, AP History, and enriched biology and chemistry. I'm planning to take AP chemistry, AP calculus, AP English literature and composition, and enriched physics. I just took the SAT and ACT. More than earning a good grade, I believe expanding my learning in any way possible. I read at least a book a week, not including books required for school. I also am an enthusiastic follower of National Geographic and spend my free time writing and learning more about what I'm planning to major in for college; architecture. During the summer I plan to teach myself Korean.
Arts
I have always loved the arts; writing and sculpting being some of my favorite past-times. My friend and I made a pop-out art for the art show that won first place in the 3-D portion. I also made three other small sculptures for the art show. In addition to this, I am vice-president of the library club and if we are able to continue it even though our school is facing cuts I plan to attempt to be president. I am also an active member of Art Club and digitalized the design for our tee-shirts. In addition to this my friend and I are getting into painting rocks, wood-burning, and creating sculptures to sell. I also create duct tape art work such as a duct tape rain coat and duct tape e-reader cases.
Work
Instead of taking the normal work route and spending half of my day at a fast food place or restaurant cleaning tables I got together with my best friend and created a small business. We sell hand-made sculptures, painted rocks, wood-burned signs, and even canes made from drift wood at local farmer markets. I handle all of the expense and profit spread sheets as well as sculpt everything and paint in the detail for our rocks. I also excel in calligraphy for the signs. A few examples of what we put on the rocks are Garfield the cat, sailing ships, and angels.
