ATTRIBUTES
Academics
Excellent academics allow one to better the possible opportunities for them later on down the road of life. Because of their importance, the value of excellent academics has been heavily stressed by not only my parents, but myself as well. Throughout all my schooling I have strived to maintain a 3.98 GPA or higher, and because of this have previously been accepted twice into college preparation classes at Southern Oregon University. I have been on the principal’s list and honor roll since I became eligible to receive these awards, and have taken and completed the tests for two Advanced Placement classes, as a junior. Recently, I was accepted into the National Honor Society based on positive leadership and scholasticism, and scored 1650 on my first attempt at the SAT.
Athletics
Since grade school athletics have been very influential in my life and have helped me develop personal traits such as leadership and a good work ethic. Since my freshman year in high school, I was a starter on the varsity football team playing right guard and on the baseball team where I was a designated hitter and outfielder. In my sophomore year, I helped to lead my football team to its first state playoff appearance in eighteen years, and in my junior year, helped to lead my team at center to an undefeated regular season. At the end of the season, I was also awarded a second team all league line man position. In my junior year of baseball I helped to lead my team in the outfield and at the plate to its first league playoff appearance, and first 16-4 season in twenty plus years.
Community Service
I have become heavily involved with my community during my lifetime, starting with my involvement in youth sports. During football season, I not only help set up and paint various fields and officiate games, but I also help to ready the press box and scoreboard, to better my community’s pride in our football program. During various basketball and baseball seasons, I help my father coach groups of kids ranging in age from 6-14. During these sport seasons, I help to maintain all team equipment and athletic facilities such as our local fields.. Aside from sports, myself and another put our woodworking skills to use and helped to build a kitchen for a community member in need and plan to continue doing these service projects whenever the opportunity presents itself.
