ATTRIBUTES
Academics
School is one of my important aspects as a person. I take confidence in my overall 4.27 GPA as a sophomore and being part of the honor roll at Del Norte High School since my freshman year. This year I took 3 AP classes (AP Biology, AP European History, and AP Calculus AB) as well as Honors Humanities and finishing my third year in spanish, while getting A's in all of these classes. I have been accepted into the National Honor Society for next year as a junior, showing my academic excellence. Also, I have gotten permission to take five AP classes next year and take one outside of school at Westview High School to be able to raise my GPA and to attain my dream of furthering my art studies through AP Studio Art.
Community Service
I have been able to create my own community service club on campus at Del Norte High School called Crafts for a Cause. This program allows high school kids to assist younger elementary aged children to come to our program and work on crafts together every week as a charity at the 4S Ranch Library. I am also the secretary of UNICEF at Del Norte High School, where throughout the year we raise funds for the organization, such as their Tap Project. I also go to volunteer at a local soup kitchen in downtown San Diego. I am the secretary of Invisible Children for my school and ran a screening of their video to raise money for Uganda for the entire school to see. I am also in the process of creating NAHS at my school. Volunteering makes me happy to be part of something larger than just myself.
Faith
My religion is a large part of my life. Since I was in middle school I worked as a volunteer for my church, St. Columba. I have worked on children's vacation bible school by being an assistant leader for the adult counselors. Another part of the camp is being part of set up, I do the artwork for the program and work on teaching them dances, songs, and other activities. I also regularly watch the kids while the parents are in a lecture or in bible sessions with missionaries. While doing this, I also participate in the high school group and being an active member, I go to all of the events including winter retreats and summer camps. I was also a part of the alter servers for 3 years. I was blessed to be a part of such a great and loving community.
