ATTRIBUTES
Athletics
I play varsity basketball and baseball for the school of South Umpqua High. I have been on varsity since I was a freshman in both sports. During my sophomore year in baseball (2010-11) I got first team all league utility player and made the 3rd team all state. Both years in baseball my team has reached the playoffs and gone as deep as the 2nd round. For basketball I got defensive player honorable mention my sophomore year. During that season my team got 6th in state. I enjoy playing sports because my teammates are like family members. They are always there for you no matter what on and of the field/court. Playing sports is more then a game, it’s a passion.
Community Service
In my high school career I’ve helped my community doing odd and end jobs like picking up trash around town and helping out the elderly around where I live. Also I help set up and pick up for all the sports banquets we have at our school, including washing dishes, picking up all the trash, and taking down all the decoration. Every year I always help out at the kid’s free fishing day, were kid’s fish and win prizes for different types of fish they catch and I barbeque food for all the kids there. I love being able to help people out when they need it or whenever I can. There is something about it that just makes me feel good when I help someone out.
Green
While I was a freshmen and sophomore I took a class called “go green”. In that class we would go through the trash and sort every thing out and recycle everything that we could. We also would go once a week into town and clean up all the trash in the ditches. Recycling paper was a big part of are job we were always going from class to class putting paper into the recycling bins. We even raised money to buy more efficient light bulbs, so that we could replace every light bulb in our school.
Knowing that you’re making a difference in the world by recycling and re-using things as much as possible really makes you feel good.
