Academics
My impressive academic stretch began in 7th grade when I took my first high school math class. Here I learned how to be independent with my work. By the end of 10th grade I have completed all of my required math credits. When I graduate I should have my math credits for the first 2 years of collage done and the first year as a whole done. From there I have excelled in my classes by taking a tonnage of AP classes and petitioning to add more to our school. All of my AP classes have ended with an A and I was voted Teacher's Favorite for the 2011-2012 school year. I initiated tutoring sessions for my peers that mainly focus in history. I am also apart of the National Honor Society, Rho Kappa Social Studies Honor Society, and I was the president of Mu Alpha Theta Math Honor Society.
Community Service
Community service is a major part of my life. As an incoming Junior I already have 250 hours towards graduation and the requirement is 40. I strive to make every function that we have based on service. For example, for Christmas and Three Kings Day instead of asking for presents I request that everyone go online and make a donation to the Miami Children's Hospital Foundation in conjunction with the Children's Miracle Network. For our Key Club International meetings I talked our board into turning our general meetings into meetings/ service projects. I also make it a family affair to teach my nieces and nephews at a young age to start volunteering. Service is extremely important it is something that I will continue into collage with Circle K and into adulthood with the Kiwanis organization.
Other Achievements
As far as other achievements go I have reached a major achievement personally in that I have finally overcame depression that I got when my parents were divorcing and my cousin attempted to commit suicide. Now that I have over come this I have started a somewhat mini counseling organization. It's not formal but once a week I invite people in my room for an hour or so just to talk them out of their problems. I've been through the same thing that these kids have been through and I want them to know that there is someone here and that I will always be there fro them. They have no one in their lives to go too and all of this emotion builds up to where you can't take it anymore. My goal is to help them slowly release this emotion. I want these people to get the assistance that I never had.
