Arts
Savannah Arts Academy has paved the way for my future in pursuing a career in graphic design. My entire high school career, I have taken graphic design courses under my professor, Mr. Kinte Taylor. My work has been featured in many gallery shows for the school. I have also been named one of Mr. Taylor's "Future Graphic Designers". Along with three others, he has helped us look for some of the best colleges for graphic design. Being an alumni of Savannah College of Art and Design, Mr. Taylor recommends that I choose to go there. They have the best equipment and are a big name to many Fortune 500 companies. I would love to attend SCAD. However, their tuition is a little pricey, so I am trying to gain as many scholarships as I possibly can; so that I can be off to a great start for my future.
Academics
Knowledge is everything. It is the one thing that can never be taken away from you. When you increase your human capital, you are making yourself more marketable. That is my goal everyday when I wake up to attend school. Ever since grade school, I have been a straight "A" student. Even now, in high school, I work hard to maintain my 3.7 grade point average. Being a student of Savannah Arts Academy can be really academically challenging, but I embrace every bit of it. I love learning new things. Everyone has those academic areas that they are better in than the others, but I don't really have a preference. I strive to do my best in all areas. I believe this trait will be great when I attend college next year. I am already taking the necessary and proper steps to prepare for college.
Community Service
It is a great sense of honor when you know that you are doing something for the good of others. I enjoy performing community service because I love the benefit of knowing that I am doing something for a bigger cause than just "me". Every year, my school requires that each student does at least ten hours of community service. Every year, i have done over the required ten hours. I have done projects for a Youth Methodist Camp, The March of Dimes, The YMCA, and more. I love working with the children of our community. I believe that children are our future for tomorrow. Any time I can lend a helping hand, I am always willing to help.
