ATTRIBUTES
Academics
I am the valedictorian of my class, which proves that I have consistently excelled at academics throughout my schooling career. I have a cumulative GPA of 3.98 for high school, and I also received a 5 on the Latin AP (after several years of achieving Summa Cum Laude recognition on the National Latin Exam). Also, despite my struggles with math, I managed to make A grades up to and including Calculus, which I took last year as a junior. I was accepted at American University as an Honors Student and awarded a Presidential Scholarship, as well as a scholarship for Excellence in Model United Nations. I placed into third-year French after only a single year of studying the language. I have also participated in forensics for several years, earning silver and gold medals at state level.
Faith
My parents raised me in the Roman Catholic faith, and that faith has always been important to me. Because of my skill at public speaking, my maturity, and my seriousness, I was allowed to become a lector at my old parish when I was only in fourth grade. When we moved and changed parishes a few years ago, I was allowed to continue lectoring even though lectors at our current parish usually have to be confirmed. Since then I have been confirmed, in addition to receiving baptism, first communion, and reconciliation as a child. Because of my faith, I chose to attend St. Ambrose Academy for high school, which has helped me to grow immensely.
Arts
Ever since I was very young, I have loved all forms of art from drawing, to writing, to music. In middle school I was praised as one of the class artists (even though looking at my old drawings now makes me cringe) and I won an art contest in second grade. I have also always loved creative writing, both storytelling and poetry. I am currently working on a short story, a whimiscal fantasy that reflects on what it means to be human. I have continued to draw, and for several years I have been painting digitally. I post most of my pictures on a website for artists, and have received a lot of complimentary feedback. I also love to sing--I have participated in my school's Schola Cantorum, and this year was promoted to the Advanced Track and cantored at my school's graduation Mass.
