Arts
I've danced at a ballet studio for 11 years of my life. Looking back, my perseverance and dedication has helped me get into the Advanced Company at Mindy's Jessamine School of Classical Dance. I blossomed as a dancer when I started dancing simply for myself and for the joy. It hasn't always been easy practicing at least 4 times a week while juggling the school dance team. I've been let down at times when I've auditioned, but that's only helped me persevere. Although those experiences were disappointing, it's developed the skills I need to excel. Last winter my work payed off when I received a solo in The Nutcracker Ballet. I've also found a passion for choreography and will be choreographing for my studio and teaching a class. I can't wait to continue my journey when I dance in college.
Academics
Academics have always been a top priority for me. From the time I was in grade school I strove for a perfect score on everything. Although perfection isn't possible, I've strove to do the best with the potential God has given me. Today, I have never received below an A (4.0 GPA) and I only have one year left in school. I've thought about my future when taking classes like AP World History, College Trig, etc. I am very excited to possibly begin college with most of my general ed. courses finished. My grades haven't been the only thing to show for my dedication. I've received 2 awards in the medical pathway at the Jessamine Career and Technology Center as well as being a member of the National Honor Society and a math tutor for freshmen and sophomores. Academics has always been important.
Faith
Faith is the most important thing in my life today. I started my relationship with God when I was 5 years old. Since then, God has put me through adversity with the loss of family members or friends, but He never gave me more than I could handle. In reality, it only helped me grow faith in His plan. Now, I totally rely on God in all of my circumstances. I am very involved at Broadway Baptist Church where I serve on the Youth Leadership Team. I've gotten to share my testimony and go on mission camps. Volunteering at various Alzheimer's homes and hospitals has also taught me about compassion. I've helped grow the EJHS FCA program and I hope to do mission work outside the country, possibly Peru. My faith needs to be shared throughout the world and I plan to glorify God in all that I do!
