Type

The Discus Awards Scholarships are Network Scholarships, meaning in order to redeem the scholarships, winners must attend a college or university within the Discus Network at the time of winners' matriculation as an undergraduate freshman. Scholarships, which are provided as discounts off the “full price” of tuition, are awarded through the Discus Awards based on the quality and uniqueness of applicants' achievements. Financial need is not considered in the scholarship awarding process. These scholarships represent the minimum amount of financial aid that a student is guaranteed to receive.

There are two types of Discus Awards Scholarships: Discus Award Winner Scholarships and Discus Awards Honorable Mention Scholarships. Unless otherwise noted, such as in the 'Details' section, all of the information on this page applies to both types of Discus Awards Scholarships. SAGE Scholars is the scholarship administrator for Discus Awards Scholarships.

Eligibility

  • Scholarship for high school juniors, sophomores, and freshmen
  • Scholarship for U.S. Citizens or legal residents

Description

A Discus Award is a recognition award that honors all-around high school students who demonstrate significant achievements in and outside the classroom in three of ten Discus attributes. Every Discus Award winner in 9th, 10th, and 11th grade will receive a Discus Award Winner Scholarship as a reward for their recognition by the Discus Awards judging panel. Discus Award winners in 12th grade are unfortunately not eligible to receive Network Scholarships, such as Discus Awards Scholarships, due to restrictions enforced by our scholarship administrator.  However, Discus Award winners in 12th grade are eligible for other scholarships offered through the Discus Awards program.

Discus Awards Honorable Mention winners are students who demonstrate that they are active and engaged in their high school and their community, as determined by the Discus Awards judging panel.

A student who is named a Discus Award winner in August will be considered for 10 National All-Around Student Scholarships, but a student who is named a Discus Award winner in May will only be considered for 2.
