Meet Christopher Millison.
A senior at a Delaware high school, Christopher demonstrates excellence and passion in the arts, academics, and community service. The Discus Awards recognize Christopher for his numerous contributions to his community, musical theater, and the academic environment in his school.
Christopher is one of the two winners of the first Discus Scholarship, a scholarship presented to select Discus Award winners every month of the school year. Evaluating Christopher's excellence in three of 10 key attributes, a panel of judges named Christopher as the recipient of the $2,000 college scholarship.
The Discus Awards is a high-school awards program that honors students who excel in and out of the classroom. The Discus Awards look beyond grades, scores, and win-loss records and recognize students for their multi-dimensional talents and passions.
Christopher is setting stages on fire in numerous areas of his life and the life of his community, and the Discus Awards is honored to share the warmth.

“Performing arts are my passion.In the last six years, I have participated in over 29 musical productions in professional, community and educational theaters. I have many accomplishments in vocals and dance. As a vocalist I have performed at Kennedy Center and Carnegie Hall. I won First Place in Musical Theater Vocals and Classical Vocals with the National Association of Teachers of Singing Conference and attended Governors School for Voice. As a dancer, I won a National Level Finals Competition, was offered one of 8 spots with TAPKIDS of NY Stage International Tour and was most recently awarded one of 120 spots out of 7000 applicants to attend the National Foundation for Advancement for the arts (NFAA) Young Arts week in Miami." |

“I love to learn and especially excel in math and science.I have taken the toughest curriculum that is offered at my high school. Most of the classes that I have taken have been honors or advanced placement level courses. I have participated on the high school math team and was a state finalist. I have a 3.86/4 unweighted GPA and have made the Dean’s List every semester since 6th grade. I am the recipient of the Cab Calloway Medal, which is the highest award given at my High School." |

“As a service to the community, I am a volunteer performer for charitable programs.Through these opportunities, I have sparked the imaginations of children, brought smiles to the faces of the elderly, and “for a few moments” lightened the stresses of the sick and dying. I have used my talents to raise money for charities, for my school, and for organizations in need. I have over 733 community service hours attributed to charitable organizations including The Ronald McDonald House, AI Dupont Hospital for Children, Cokesbury Village Assisted Living Facility, Emily Bissel Hospital and the Delaware Children's Theater." |
