Discus Awards Finalists are the founders of local businesses, leaders of non-profit organizations, stars of town sports teams, and advanced scholars.  In addition to receiving recognition, every Discus Awards Finalist is automatically considered by a judging panel for a $2,000 college scholarship.  The winners of the National All-Around Student Scholarships are announced on two dates during the program year: January 31^st and June 30^th. Type

The National All-Around Student Scholarship is an Open Scholarship, meaning it may be applied to the cost of tuition, fees, books, and supplies at any accredited, public or private four-year or two-year college or university, technical college, community college, or vocational school. Open Scholarships are managed and fulfilled by the Center for Scholarship Administration.

• Scholarship winners must have their achievements verified by their Discus Awards reference

Description

The National All-Around Student Scholarship aims to scholarship high school students who demonstrate unique excellence in three of ten Discus attributes. National All-Around Student Scholarship winners are some of the most all-around high school students in the country.  Awarded ten times each year, this scholarship rewards students whose achievements extend far beyond the classroom and the athletic field.

Deadline

The final deadline to apply for a 2012-2013 National All-Around Student Scholarship is March 31, 2013 at 11:59 p.m. ET.

However, we strongly encourage students to apply as early in the year as possible. As soon as students are recognized as Discus Awards Finalists, they will automatically be considered for all of the remaining National All-Around Student Scholarship to be awarded that program year. So, a student who is named a Discus Awards Finalist in August will be considered for 10 scholarships, but a student who is named a Discus Award winner in May will only be considered for 5 scholarships.

National All-Around Student Scholarship winners are the future leaders of the nation. These outstanding, well-rounded students have demonstrated extraordinary achievements in each of their three Discus attributes.
