Judging
Recognizing all-around high school students
The Discus Awards program features two separate judging panels. The Awards panel, comprised of incredible volunteers who are teachers, guidance counselors, and other education professionals, evaluates nominations to recognize exceptional all-around high school students. Entries do not compete against each other. Instead, entries are judged against a high standard of merit. Judges score entries on a performance scale and winning entries are recognized as Discus Award winners. All Discus Award winners are considered for scholarship awards.
Providing $2,000 college scholarships to standout students
The Discus Scholarship judging panel, once per month during the academic year, identifies one Discus Award winner who truly stands out from the population of well-rounded high school students honored by the Awards panel. Each year, the Discus Awards program grants $20,000 in scholarships to ten outstanding Discus Award winners. These exceptional all-around students each receive $2,000 college scholarships to help pursue their talents and meet their educational goals.
Apply to be a volunteer judge
All volunteer judges must be current or former teachers, guidance counselors, school administrators, or other education professionals.
