"The Discus Awards attract and recognize an extraordinary caliber of student. Discus winners are more than a set of statistics. They are engaging, dynamic, and driven to excel in the areas they have chosen for all the right reasons." -- Melly Tucker, Teacher, Maryland Public Schools
About the Discus Awards: Information for Teachers
Teaching high school is challenging. The Discus Awards gives you the tools to validate students at the front of the class, the back of the class, and everywhere in between.
If you teach high school, you know that there are a lot of great students out there who don’t quite fit the usual mold of high grades and test scores. By focusing on ten attributes that demonstrate a student’s capacity to succeed both in and outside the classroom, the Discus Awards provides motivation and recognition to students with diverse learning styles and potentials.
Nominate Your Standout Students for Discus Awards Recognition
Nominating a student for Discus Awards recognition gives high school teachers a tool to champion kids who may fly under the radar in traditional measures of academic or athletic merit. By nominating your students, you can show them how to cultivate their unique strengths and find their own path to success. It’s all about teaching students to make the most of their real-world passions.
