Discus Dan - All-Around College Preparation Advice
All your life you’ve heard the expression, “A penny saved is a penny earned.” However, the penny’s going out of style and the average cost of tuition for a private four-year college is right around $26,000. A good education can now not only break the bank, it can put it out of business.
Of course, there’s financial aid, which comes in all shapes and sizes including loans, grants, and scholarships. But how does one sift through the clutter and find the aid that matches their needs and achievements?
I have made it my mission to serve the hundreds of thousands of high school students trying to figure out how to get into and pay for college. Some may call me their Financial Aid Friend or their Scholarships Source, but you can just call me Discus Dan.
Every day, right here, I will share with you some of the most useful resources for all aspects of the college admissions process. To get you started, here are a few sites that every high school student should know about:
Cappex.com – “College Search Made Simple”
FastWeb.com – Find Money for College
College Confidential – College Admissions, School Search, and Financial Aid Resources
College Board – College Planning and Preparation Tools
Princeton Review – Test Prep and Admissions Resources
I would love to work with all of you to make this blog as helpful as it can be. One way you can help me is by sharing your college admissions and financial aid experiences in the comments section. Did I miss any sites that are crucial to the college preparation process? Post them in the comments section!
